The Stockton Association of Wedding Professionals was born in April of 2007 to promote the professional wedding industry here in Stockton. It was clear that many business’ in our area who were in the wedding industry did not have a local association that catered to their needs and concerns. Thus was born the idea of forming SAWP. The co-founder and first President Jenny Klooster along with other business leaders in the local wedding industry formed what has become a major wedding association and wedding show producer here in Stockton several years.
The association has grown from just a handful of “charter members” to over 30 today.
Today the association represents some of the largest and well know companies in the Stockton and surrounding areas that are in the wedding industry. The association meets every two weeks to discuss new trends in the wedding industry and other issues related to business in general.
The association is governed by a set of by-laws and standards that it’s members are expected to adhere to. The association is not a pay and get in type of association. Any business who applies for membership must be in the wedding industry for at least one year. Applicants referrals are checked and the membership decides if the applicant meets the associations high standards. To have a SAWP plaque hanging the wall of a business means that business meets very high standards in product quality, integrity and customer service.
